TimberCreek GC #FacesFromTheFairway 2021 February 17

For our next (2nd) installment of #FacesFromTheFairway 2021 we are highlighting our good friend, Mike Empting. Many of you have probably seen Mike around TCGC, and he is a great supporter of many of our efforts in so many ways (Mike also runs our Wednesday Men's League). This is just our way of celebrating some of you that help define what this course is all about: community, fun, and friendship, and will allow everyone to get to know our #TimberCreekFamily a little better on the course, and beyond . . . A little more about Mike that he was kind enough to share with us, 18 questions/holes, Q & A style:

Front Nine

1. Where did you grow up? St. Cloud

2. Was golf a part of your childhood? Nope

3. Who taught you to play? Myself - explains a lot right?

4. When and where did you play your first round? First ever knock-about was Anguishire with friends in HS

5. Did you play high school or college golf? Nope

6. Do you have a long time golf partner or friend? He just goes by Mulligan

7. What has golf taught you about life? Don't sweat the small stuff. There's usually a way to overcome it.

8. What do you love most about the game? The connections I've made (friends and business)

9. Best golf memory? Rush Creek Par 3 #6 - playing with strangers - I hit my tee shot into water hazard in front of the green and the ball was sitting up on some bent over reeds fairly close to the edge. I flipped my 56 and hit a backward escape flop shot onto the green and drained a 25' putt for par. These guys were losing their minds and then I followed it up with a dead shank off the box on #7. Easy come easy go!

Back Nine

1. What was, or is your profession? Ophthalmic Technician

2. Do you speak more than one language? 1 1/2

- If so which ones? Danish

3. Do you play a musical instrument? No - too busy golfing

4. Other than golf how do you spend your free time? 3 kids keeps me busy

5. Favorite food? Bacon BBQ Cheeseburger

6. Favorite color? The lush green of a freshly mowed fairway

7. Favorite song or band? Depends on my mood. Can't go wrong with Texas Blues - Stevie Ray Vaughan

8. Favorite movie? As Good As It Gets

9. Favorite quote? "It's not enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what's required." - Winston Churchill

--------------------------------------------------------

We'll have to ask Mike about his use of the term, "knock-about", but I think we understand. We also give him credit for being brave enough to actually use the dreaded "S" word when it comes to golf, and we hear he is one of the best backward trickshot artists around - the golf memory he shared above attests to both of these fun facts. Mike was also kind enough to share a pic of him at Bully Pulpit GC in the ND Badlands (great course)

Thanks, Mike!! Your support and dedication are appreciated beyond what words can express in a simple FB post.

To help celebrate Mike and our TCGC #FacesFromTheFairway initiative, feel free to tag your friends in the post/pic and share this post so others can learn more about our awesome #TimberCreekFamily.
